About

I'm Harley.

I'm a multi-disciplinary artist, animator and programmer. I've also worked as a sysadmin and in technical project management for several years.

The latter is not my preferred vocation, but I'm still, just about, stuck in it.

I'm fascinated by the world and everything there is to know about in it. I consider myself a craftsperson. I build things with my hands, even when using the computer, dismissing shortcuts or easy solutions in favour of making carefully considered works crafted with intent and purpose. I'm also allergic to specialisation: if I want to learn how to do something, I must understand it in its entirety — to a fault.

Between my two careers, I've cultivated a set of skills that have left me with the ability to not only make and animate films or games, but to build the infrastructure, engines and pipelines required to make them, even at scale.

My goal is, and has always been, to make the term 'generalist' next to my name seem reductionist.
